SightMine Technologies Inc. ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered investment research application operated by SightMine Technologies Inc. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information We Collect

SightMine does not require account creation and does not collect your name, email address, or payment information directly. The following information is collected automatically:

Usage data: Stock tickers you search or view, tabs accessed, and watchlist activity. This data is stored locally on your device and used to enforce the free-tier daily analysis limit and display your usage history.
Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version, collected for error diagnosis and crash reporting.
Error logs: Anonymised technical error information stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.

When you subscribe to SightMine Pro, payment is processed entirely by Apple (via Apple In-App Purchase) or Google (via Google Play Billing). We do not receive or store your credit card number or billing details.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the SightMine application
To enforce free-tier usage limits
To diagnose technical errors and improve app stability
To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

SightMine routes data requests through the following third-party services:

Finnhub (finnhub.io): Provides real-time market data, financial statements, analyst ratings, and news. Your stock queries are forwarded to Finnhub through our server. Finnhub's privacy policy is available at finnhub.io.
Anthropic (anthropic.com): Provides the Claude AI model used to generate research summaries, fair value estimates, and scorecard grades. Your search queries are included in prompts sent to Anthropic. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com.
Railway (railway.app): Hosts our backend API server in the United States. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS. Railway's privacy policy is available at railway.app.
Apple / Google: Process subscription payments. Subject to their respective privacy policies.

By using SightMine, you acknowledge that your queries may be transmitted to and processed by the above services.

4. Data Residency

Our backend server is hosted in the United States via Railway. If you are located in Canada, your data may be processed in the United States, which has different privacy laws than Canada. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected during transmission, including end-to-end HTTPS encryption.

5. Data Retention

Usage data and error logs stored locally on your device are retained until you uninstall the application or clear the app data through your device settings. We do not retain personal query data on our servers beyond what is necessary to fulfil your request. AI response caches on our server are automatically purged after 24 hours.

6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) if you believe we have not complied with PIPEDA

7. Children's Privacy

SightMine is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of SightMine after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
